Scanners cost a lot of money, and getting to a copy machine or scanner to scan a document or receipt can be inconvenient. I have recently downloaded a free app called Genius Scan, and it has been VERY helpful. I have scanned receipts and emailed them to myself so that I don't have to worry about losing the receipt. I have also scanned important documents that are multiple pages, and they are easily converted to a pdf form that can be emailed and annotated over when bringing up the document again in my ipad.
