It might seem odd to post that a university is a stellar stop, but not in this case. Pepperdine University is known as one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. California weather allows you to visit Pepperdine any time throughout the year for its stunning view, but I recommend that you stop by especially in the last few weeks of September when they place flags on their lawn in remembrance of the 9/11 victims. There is also a Heroes Garden at the top of the campus that has an infinity waterfall and allows you to pay tribute to the fallen victims of the 9/11 tragedy.

It's really indescribable, so you must go see it for yourself! The fact that man created this massive piece of machinery that float in space --yes, this fact alone is amazing! But then to witness the miracle yourself is unforgettable. Being up close to see the immense size of the shuttle is something you will always remember. Picture from: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/dryden/news/newsphotos/2012/endeavour_exhibit_go.html Calle Olvera or Olvera St. is a historical landmark in Los Angeles that is worth a visit if you have never seen it before. It is fun to see all the vendors, to hear the music, and to eat the delicious food. You could drive down to Olvera St. or you can take the MetroLink which drops you off at Union Station and is just across the street. If you have time, Chinatown is just next door and you can walk through its colorful shops as well. There are many restaurants to dine at in the area; we chose La Golondrina and were not disappointed by its authentic Mexican cuisine and classic margaritas. It's definitely worth your time to stop and visit this part of L.A..
http://www.fourseasons.com/westlakevillage/spa/ This is heaven on earth, my friends. The Four Seasons has a reputation for excellence and high standards for a reason. The spa at the Four Season in Westlake Village is no exception. I found a deal on Travel Zoo: http://tinyurl.com/b92qptd, and it was worth every penny! Typically, one treatment is about $150, and with this deal, you pay $199 and get a facial AND a massage, PLUS a glass of champagne or a smoothie. We sat poolside with our drinks and ordered lunch (additional cost) as well. They brought our lunches to us on trays and we dined in the California sun in January! This is why I pay a premium to live in this state. It was a perfect day. Definitely worth a stop if you can ever manage it! I've already bought another deal! https://www.cinepolisusa.com/ Once you recline these chairs, they have you! You have encountered the ultimate level of comfort while watching a movie on the big screen. This is the way to do it, folks. Viewing the latest 3-hour thriller while reclined in a comfortable leather seat, with a button closeby and ready to push asking the attendant for a cafe mocha or menu item that will be brought directly to your seat--yes, this is how to watch a movie. The only problem is that once you see a movie at one of these theaters, you feel like a peasant when you return to the regular theaters. We saw The Hobbit in 3D on New Year's Eve, and this is my new favorite way to celebrate New Year's Eve. If you see a movie around 6ish, then you get out of the theater around 9:30-10 and can then return home for a couple hours of snacks and games. Before you know it, the ball is dropping, you are toasting your friends, and then kicking them out so you can go to bed. A perfect evening. If you ever happen to find yourself in Boston, you MUST stop and take a tour of Fenway Park. This is stellar. I have also visited the new Yankees stadium, and I have to say that the Red Sox definitely win over the Yankees in terms of ballpark tours. The docents at Fenway Park have been well trained; they are friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about the baseball history of Fenway Park and their beloved Red Sox. The tour takes you to all parts of the ballpark--you get to sit in the oldest seats in baseball history, you see the visiting team's quarters, you sit in the press box, walk over to the outfield, and you even get to go up to the Green Monster! (*The first time I took this tour, we did all of these things, but this last time I took the tour, there was a Bruce Springsteen concert being set up so we were not allowed to tour the Green Monster. Best to check the website for these special activities.) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/ballpark/tour.jsp
